About

Hi, I’m Ashley

I’m a wife and a mother to 3 boys, one of whom is autistic and struggles with sensory processing disorder.
I found out firsthand the severe effects of sleep deprivation and its connection with autism. Before my autistic son was 6 months old, I took him to the pediatrician at least twice a month seeking out answers to why he wasn’t sleeping “like a baby”. I got the most basic and generic advice and suggestions of course none of it worked because I had already tried them. There was no help, no useful advice, nothing, so we as a family suffered, but my son suffered the most.
Having prior experience with other autistic children. At 6 months old there was no doubt in my mind that my son had autism. Of course, they don’t diagnose at that age, so we had to keep struggling. That’s when my research picked up significantly more. At 18 months, the official diagnosis was given. The specialist then entered the picture, and after spending hours upon hours of speaking with them, it was only slightly helpful. After trying prescription Melatonin that actually made it WORSE! So I dived in even harder and harder in my research. Countless hours reading and researching anything and everything I could about autism in general and its relation to sleep. At 2 years old, I finally managed it! I got him to sleep by himself, and stay asleep all night every night. We still struggled with early mornings but continued to modify what I was doing. But he went from sleeping collectively around 9 hours in a 24-hour period to 12 hours in a 24-hour period! In a short amount of time, he was noticeably less irritated and aggressive. His two-hour-long daily meltdowns became shorter, less frequent, and less intense. He was absorbing more and more information and communicating more effectively.
For over 3 years now, my son has been sleeping 12 hours through the night every night without early morning waking’s. All the hard work, trials and errors, and countless hours of research have paid off. After this tiring experience, I decided to become a certified pediatric sleep consultant and received additional certifications in Autism and Special Needs, to help other parents achieve what I was able to without all the headache, heartache, and frustration.
